TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) -- Larry Williams, president of Northeastern State University, was hospitalized over the weekend after suffering a heart attack in his home, the university said.
He was in stable condition.
Williams, 61, was taken to Tahlequah City Hospital on Saturday morning after experiencing sporadic discomfort in his chest and upper back throughout the night.
He was then transported by helicopter to Tulsa, where tests confirmed Williams had suffered a heart attack.
Doctors there successfully inserted a coronary stent to relieve blockage in a narrowed artery. The president has no previous history of heart disease, the university said.
