SAN DIEGO (AP) -- The San Diego Chargers finish the first round of interviews for their head coaching vacancy when they meet with New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator and former Oklahoma head coach Gary Gibbs today.
Gibbs is one of at least six candidates for the job, which opened after the team fired Marty Schottenheimer on Monday night.
General manager A.J. Smith says he and president Dean Spanos will review what they gleaned from the six candidates before deciding how to proceed.
Gibbs says he's not obsessed with being a head coach and that he's been the beneficiary of a good football team this past season in New Orleans. The Saints reached the N-F-C title game.
Before he took his current job with the Saints, Gibbs was an assistant with the Dallas Cowboys.
