CUSHING, Okla. (AP) _ Authorities have made no arrests after a driver of a stolen pickup truck who allegedly tried to run down an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper got away.
The trooper clocked the driver of a silver Dodge truck speeding on state Highway 18 in Cushing about 12:45 p.m. Thursday, patrol Spokeswoman Kera Philippi said.
The driver turned down a county road with the trooper in pursuit, Philippi said. After spotting the vehicle, the trooper got out of his cruiser and tried to flag down the truck but the driver allegedly accelerated toward him.
The trooper fired several shots at the pickup, but investigators don't think the driver was hit, Philippi said.
The pickup, which had been reported stolen from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, later was found unoccupied by a Payne County Sheriff's deputy south of Cushing.
Authorities searched the area with dogs and aircraft but the driver wasn't found, Philippi said.
