QUAPAW, Okla. (AP) -- A Quapaw woman who confessed to drowning her 17-month-old son in 2003 is asking for day passes so she can leave a mental health facility.
Toni Torres is asking for day passes from the Oklahoma Forensics Center in Vinita where she was sent after being found insane and unable to stand trial for first-degree murder.
An Ottawa County district judge is considering the request.
Torres was diagnosed with bipolar disorder after the drowning death of her son and telling authorities God had told her to kill the boy.
