OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Oklahoma House will buy each of its 101 members a laptop computer.
State House Speaker Lance Cargill says the idea is to cut paper and printing costs and make representatives more accessible to their constituents via the Internet.
He also announced plans today make the House more "family-friendly" by rearranging parts of its weekly schedule to accomodate lawmakers with families.
The chamber will also meet on a Saturday during the Legislature's four-month run so working Oklahomans can have more of a chance to observe lawmakers in action.
The legislative session begins Monday. Cargill's comments came Thursday at an Associated Press' legislative preview luncheon.
