Are you prepared for disaster? Nine out of ten people told our Oklahoma Poll they were, but News on 6 reporter Chris Wright says those who weren’t ready wish they had been better prepared.
The Red Cross says that one of the most common statements they heard during the storm was, "We weren't prepared for this." In order to help people know what to do in the event of another storm, the Red Cross is making first aid kits available. They cost about $10 and have everything you need in case you become stranded.
The Red Cross is also offering a free three-hour disaster preparedness class. It is called “Ready When the Time Comes,†and will include information on disaster safety, emergency action steps and first aid basics.
The Tulsa area chapter of The Red Cross says it is crucial that everyone be ready for the wide array of weather we see here in Oklahoma.
"This kind of storm doesn't happen everyday, so that's understandable, but we live in Oklahoma, which is one of the most volatile weather regions in the world, you need to be prepared for a variety of different circumstances," said GT Bynum with the American Red Cross.
The next “Ready When the Time Comes†class will be held Saturday, February 10th at 9 a.m. at the Tulsa Area Chapter of the American Red Cross. Fore more information, you can call 918-831-1186.
