A strong storm system is expected to bring heavy snowfall to much of Oklahoma during the weekend.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for western and central and northeastern Oklahoma and a snow advisory for western Oklahoma and the Panhandle, all lasting through Sunday. Southeastern and south-central Oklahoma are under a winter weather advisory during that time.
Snow or sleet is expected Saturday through central and northern Oklahoma with rain or sleet forecast for southeastern portions of the state. Highs are expected in the low 30s to low 40s. The precipitation is expected to continue into the evening hours, with lows forecast in the upper teens to mid 30s. Some areas will have freezing drizzle after midnight.
For Sunday, light snow is possible across northern Oklahoma. Other areas of the state could see light rain or drizzle. Highs are to reach the 30s and low 40s. In far southeastern portions of Oklahoma, highs could hit the lower 50s.
Mostly cloudy conditions are expected Monday, with a slight chance for light snow and perhaps light rain in far southeastern Oklahoma. Highs are expected in the low 30s to mid 40s.
