CINCINNATI (AP) _ The Cincinnati Bengals hire veteran NFL assistant and Tulsa native Mike Sheppard to be receivers coach, reuniting him with head coach Marvin Lewis.
Sheppard's hiring was announced Tuesday.
Lewis was a college assistant coach under Sheppard at Long Beach State and New Mexico, and the two were assistants together at Baltimore in 1996.
Sheppard, who will be in his 14th NFL season as a coach, was last with New Orleans, serving as offensive coordinator in 2005.
He replaces Hue Jackson, who left Cincinnati's staff this month to become offensive coordinator with the Atlanta Falcons.
