President Bush's plan to send more soldiers to Iraq is getting mixed reviews. Reaction ranges from compliments to criticism.
A handful of people with the "Tulsa Peace Fellowship" protested before President Bush's speech Wednesday evening at the pedestrian bridge over Riverside Drive.
They say sending more troops is a mistake. One veteran, the News on 6 talked to disagrees; he says more soldiers can make a difference. But only if soldiers are allowed to aggressively go after insurgents.
Both agree Iraqi's should take more of the lead in efforts to bring peace to the war torn country.
Justin Davis with the Tulsa Peace Fellowship: "I think the Iraqi's should definitely take more control of the country. Their democracy can not be forced upon them. They have to choose to accept it. They have to choose peace. We can't choose it for them."
National Guard soldier Sgt. Wayne Powell: "They have a responsibility on their end as well as our responsibility on our end to ensure that the democracy that we helped set up stays intact."
President Bush is sending 21,500 additional troops to Iraq.
