SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops says he doesn't rank his favorite teams, but he admits this year's Sooners are one of the more special teams he's ever been around.
OU lost its starting quarterback and an offensive lineman when they were kicked off the team for violating NCAA rules. Then running back Adrian Peterson missed the last half of the season with a broken collarbone.
Still the Sooners won the Big 12 South and beat Nebraska for the conference championship. They go into Monday's Fiesta Bowl against Boise State with eight straight wins and an 11-2 record.
The 7th-ranked Sooners meet 12-0 and 9th-ranked Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl in Scottsdale, Arizona.
