CLINTON, Okla. (AP) A man wanted for molesting an 8-year-old boy in Mount Prospect, Illinois, is in custody in western Oklahoma and due to appear in court Monday.

Kenneth Vernon of Wheeling, Illinois, was arrested Friday near Clinton by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper after Vernon led the trooper on a short police chase.

Police in Mount Prospect say they located Vernon by tracing cell phone activity and notified the OHP.

Vernon is now being held in the Custer County Jail in Arapaho pending extradition back to Illinois.
