NEW YORK (AP) Thousands of protesters have been marching down Fifth Avenue to protest the fatal police shooting of a groom on his wedding day.
It's the latest in a series of demonstrations since Sean Bell was killed and his two friends wounded as they left his bachelor party last month.
Police have said they believed someone in Bell's car had a gun and that Bell's car hit an undercover officer before shots were fired. But no weapons were found.
A survivor of the shooting led today's march from his wheelchair. He was accompanied by the Reverend Al Sharpton and other members of the clergy, some New York members of Congress and Sean Bell's fiancee.
Today's protest along Manhattan's most visible street was timed to the busy holiday season. Organizers say many people will be out shopping for trinkets, but their group is "shopping for justice."
