A model train and a couple of small buildings under the Christmas tree has a traditional sound to it, doesn't it? 20 years ago that's what Bob Clymore's living room looked like, a small village and a couple of trains under the tree.

But as News on 6 reporter Rick Wells shows us, that small village has experienced a severe case of urban sprawl.

When Bob Clymore turned on his Jenks living room display, I just stood there and giggled like a kid. I mean there is just so much detail. For the last 14 years or so Bob has shopped the stores that sell these Christmas village pieces looking for buildings and accessories he can use. "I pick what suit's my fancy." Then he creates little scenes like one in front of the bingo hall. “The guy comes out, I don't know whether you can see him in front with the hat off, he's just won that 49 Cadillac sitting there."

He loves putting the people and things in place. Each year they are a little different. There's a church with a wedding going on, the doctor and nurse are rushing to a traffic accident down the street and a Christmas Eve garage sale, imagine the bargains. "Guy standing up against the mail box, a good looking girl is walking by with her dog, he's trying to make a play for her, she's got no use for him, she's after the paperboy."

What Christmas Eve would complete with out Santa and his reindeer? In his village you can fish, get a hot dog, or Chinese. There's a suburb across the living room, one year he'll figure how to get them together.

Bob Clymore starts in October, tries to have it up by Thanksgiving, but there is only one drawback. “When the Christmas season is over with, that's the saddest part to the whole thing."

He says the village will stay up until Super Bowl Sunday, then he'll put it away until next October.

Folks are welcome to come see it, if they'll call first. He says his number is in the book.
