Tulsa's newest crime fighter can sniff out bombs, and she's not even 2 years old! Shirley is a rookie in the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office.
The Labrador Retriever is the only working dog in Oklahoma trained by the ATF. She can sniff out weapons and more than 19,000 different explosives.
Before Shirley went into crime fighting, she was training to become a guide dog. Deputy Tracey Breeden: "She had some issues with outdoors. She was distracted by the birds and the squirrels, they said, had a little too much energy to be a guide dog, but that's a good thing when it comes to being an explosive detection K-9. She has a lot of motivation and energy to work."
The dog will spend most of the time at the Tulsa County Courthouse. But she'll also be called on when dignitaries come to town and for large public gatherings.
