OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Authorities are trying to determine why a 3-month-old boy who was taken from what they call a filthy home died while in state custody.

The boy's body was found Monday at the Pauline Mayer shelter in Oklahoma City after he and his 3-, 2- and 1-year-old sisters were taken from the home in Luther on Saturday.

A lawyer for the child's father identifies the boy as Samuel Barber.

The four children were taken into protective custody by deputies who say they found them covered in feces in a garbage-filled home with nine dogs and two cats.
