SAN ANGELO, Texas (AP) Two soldiers, including one stationed in Oklahoma, have been indicted on separate sexual assault charges after being accused of having sex with a Texas girl they met on the social networking Web site MySpace.com.
According to a report in Saturday’s editions of the San Angelo Standard-Times, 18-year-old Ephrem Christopher Jones, a Fort Hood soldier now in Iraq, told investigators he met the 14-year-old girl twice.
Thirty-three-year-old Floyd Karl Parker, a drill sergeant at Fort Sill in Oklahoma, is accused of having sex with the same girl in a motel in September.
Jones told authorities the girl said she was 20 years old, but later said she was 16. Under Texas law, people younger than 17 are not capable of consenting to sex with an adult.
In a police report, the girl said she went to the hotel room with Parker, who she said forced her to have sex but did not threaten her.
Parker was arrested by the Comanche County Sheriff's Department in Oklahoma on November 14th. His pretrial hearing is set for January 2nd.
