Class 2A semifinals now set for Saturday

Quarterfinal action in Class 2A kicks off on Saturday, and it'll be a match-up of the undefeated. Vian (13-0) will play Davis (13-0) at Choctaw.

Vian shutout Morris in round one 35-0.

Round two looked like it would be another shutout; the Wolverines were 49-0 before Colcord got on the board. The deficit was too much to overcome, Vian beat Colcord 56-14.

In the quarterfinals Vian, minus standout QB Seth Sloan, faced off against Alva. The Wolverines defense was on fire sacking the Alva quarterback 8 times, and scoring with a 52-yard interception return. It looked as if Vian would get another shutout, but Alva scored late in the game, final score Vian 41, Alva 7.

Vian will play Davis in the semi-finals. The Wolves trampled Bridge Creek in round one 47-7.

Davis took on Perkins in round two. Perkins took an early 14-0 lead, but Davis scored 41 unanswered points to advance to the quarterfinals, final score, 41-14.

In the quarterfinals Davis was up against Henryetta, it was an overtime battle that ended with a game winning 2-point conversion. Davis won 36-35.

Vian vs. Davis in the Class 2A semi-finals, kick off is 1:30 Saturday afternoon at Putnam City High School.


Spiro (12-1) and Millwood (12-1) also play on Saturday.

In round one Spiro beat Prague by a touchdown, 28-21.

Round two pitted Spiro against the undefeated Sequoyah Tahlequah. Sequoyah was the favorite to win, but they just couldn't hold onto the ball, fumbling 8 times. Two of those fumbles led to Bulldog touchdowns; another kept the Indians from scoring in the 3rd. Sequoyah fell to Spiro, 26-20.

In the quarterfinals, Spiro was up against Heritage Hall. The Bulldog defense capitalized on Heritage Hall turnovers for this victory. An interception by Jeremy Harris lead to a TD which gave Spiro the lead for good, the Bulldogs beat Heritage Hall 19-14.

Millwood has advanced in the playoffs with several big wins. In round one Millwood dashed Fairview's playoff dreams with a 27-2 victory.

Round two wasn't much of a challenge, Millwood playing Lindsay, the Leopards took the lead at 6-0, but Millwood scored 50 unanswered points to advance to the quarterfinals, final score 50-6.

Millwood matched up with defending state champs Chandler in the quarterfinals. Millwood was leading 14-0 before Chandler got on the board. Millwood immediately answered with a TD of their own, final score 35-14.

Spiro and Millwood face off on Saturday at 1:30 pm, in Tulsa at East Central High School.
