STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) Oklahoma tailback Adrian Peterson may not be doubtful for next week's Big 12 championship game.
Coach Bob Stoops said Saturday that team doctors will re-evaluate the 2004 Heisman Trophy runnerup to see how he's doing.
Peterson has missed OU's past six games after breaking his collarbone October 14th against Iowa State. He had been expected to miss six weeks, a timeframe that would put him back on the field for the #13 Sooners against Nebraska on December 2nd in Kansas City, Missouri.
Stoops initially said doctors would do a bone scan and assess whether he could play or not, and that Peterson getting out on the field was doubtful. But he reversed himself moments later.
At the time of his injury, Peterson was the nation's #2 rusher with 935 yards and 10 touchdowns.
