You might still have to fight the crowds while shopping in Tulsa, but the roads won't be to blame. Some of the higher-profile construction projects have been completed.

The 41st and Yale project that started back in January was finished last month. And the Brookside project that started in April just wrapped up Wednesday.

News on 6 reporter Steve Berg says it is not just coincidence that these are done before the shopping season. That’s the way they planned it.

The city of Tulsa had incentives in their contracts with the construction companies, to reward them if they could get done before Thanksgiving. City officials say they are well aware of how important this time of year is for retailers.

The News on 6 talked to one Brookside business owner who sounded very happy to have the road completely open again. Rick Arcide: “we've been in trouble here for about 5 months with all the construction and they finally opened the street yesterday about 2:30, and it's really turned out wonderful."

Besides Brookside and 41st and Yale, 91st and Yale is finished. The one big headache remaining, I-44 and Yale. That should be done next March.
