The Sooners (8-2, 5-1) head to Waco to face off against the Baylor Bears (4-7, 3-4). OU is riding a 5 game winning streak, the Bears have lost 3 in a row, and 4 of their last 5; Saturday’s game will be BU’s season finale.
Baylor has been outscored 152-66 during its losing streak, and has given up 31 points or more in 6 straight games. The Bears latest loss was a 66-24 rout by OSU. The Bears just couldn’t hang onto the ball, the Pokes scored 5 touchdowns off 6 BU turnovers.
The Sooner head to Waco fresh off a win against Texas Tech. Oklahoma scored 24 unanswered points in its 34-24 win over Tech in Norman. Quarterback Paul Thompson finished the game 24-31 for a career high 309 yards and 2 TD’s.
At least Baylor won’t have to worry about stopping Adrian Peterson. The running back is still out with a broken collarbone. But the Bears are without quarterback Shawn Bell, he tore his ACL against Texas A&M October 28th.
If history is any indicator, Oklahoma should win the game. The Sooners have never lost to Baylor, and OU has outscored BU 140-16 in their last three visits to Waco.
A win for the Sooners will keep them in contention for the Big 12 South Division title, but they’ll need a little help. OU needs to win its final two regular season games, and they need the Longhorns to lose against Texas A&M on November 24th.
The Longhorns have 1 conference loss, but they are the tiebreaker over Oklahoma thanks to their 28-10 win in the Red River Rivalry. Texas could have clinched the Big 12 South last weekend, but was upset 45-42 at Kansas State.
The Sooners and Bears kick-off at 11:10 Saturday morning, in Waco.
