Week 2 of High School playoffs, half the teams in action Friday night, the other half Saturday night, here's a rundown of Friday nights action. In Class 6A the Enid Plainsmen roll over Mustang 55-7.
Class 6A action on Saturday has the Owasso Rams (9-2) against the undefeated Westmore Jaguars (11-0) at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Jenks takes a trip up the turnpike to Lawton; kick off is 3:30 pm. Finally in 6A, Muskogee takes a trip to Norman North on Saturday; kick off is 7:30 pm.
In Class 5A, defending champs East Central took on the El Reno Indians in Tulsa. 1st quarter, Kenny Session outruns the defense for a 24 yard gain. That leads to a 1 yard TD by Session, 7-0 Cardinals. In the 2nd quarter, Session again goes 43 yards for a touchdown, 14-0 East Central. But, the Card didn't get the shutout. The Indians finally get on the board in the 2nd quarter, 21-7 at the half. 3rd quarter, El Reno's QB takes one in, now the Indians are down by a touchdown. But, they couldn't get the extra TD. East Central keeps their winning streak alive, 28-20 final. The Cardinals have won 24 games in a row, the longest streak in the state, right not.
In 5A actino, Lawton beats Ada 21-17.
Quarterfinal play Saturday see's 8-3 McAlester visiting 10-1 Carl Albert, kick off is 7:30 pm. Another 7:30 kick off Saturday, #4 Guthrie at #2 Bixby.
In Class 4A Poteau needs overtime to keep its post-season alive. Poteau defeats McLoud, 35-28.
McGuinness improves to 12-0 with their 34-12 win over Broken Bow.
4A playoffs on Saturday, Wagoner tries to stay undefeated. The Bulldogs meet the Elk City Big Elks in Wagoner kick off is 7:30 pm. Grove heads to Glenpool for quarterfinal play, kick off there, also 7:30 pm.
Class 3A, Locust Grove loses to Marlow 25-10.
Kingfisher advances beating Seminole 40-6. Saturday Hugo plays Purcell at 7:30 pm, and Clinton will face off against Claremore Sequoyah, also at 7:30.
Class 2A an easy night for Vian, the Wolverines remain undefeated after tromping Colcord 56-14.
The undefeated season is over for Sequoyah Tahlequah. The Indians were edged out by the Spiro Bulldogs, 26-20. Class A, the top ranked Pawnee Black Bears keep their season alive with a 55-19 mauling of Talihina.
On Saturday Henryetta plays Cascia Hall, kick off is at 7:30 pm. The Hominy Bucks take on the Commerce Tigers Saturday in Commerce, kick off also at 7:30.
