DENVER (AP) _ A three-judge panel on the federal appeals court in Denver is considering a dispute over Oklahoma's law on gay couples who adopt children.

The law says Oklahoma will not recognize adoptions of same-sex couples from other states.

A federal judge in Oklahoma previously struck down the law as unconstitutional and ordered state officials to issue birth certificates to two lesbian couples listing both women as parents.

A lawyer for Lambda Legal which represents the women says before the state law was passed the state attorney general had decided valid adoptions from other states had to be recognized, no matter who the parents are.

The judges heard arguments in the case yesterday but didn't say when they would rule.
