A 4 year old Tulsa boy reported missing late Thursday night is safe.
His father was arrested early Friday morning after police say he left the child overnight with people he barely knew, then couldn't remember where they lived.
Other family members were worried sick. News on 6 reporter Heather Lewin says this isn't the first time they've gotten bad news from police.
"When I got the call this morning, it was just like one of my own kids had gone missing," said the boys aunt, Laila Knight
At first no one knew what had happened to 4 year old Devin Clark. Police say his father, Odell Clark, couldn't remember where he had left the boy when he asked an acquaintance to watch him Thursday afternoon.
Residents called 911 when Clark began knocking on doors trying to find his son. Police say Clark seemed heavily intoxicated.
Officers found the boy around 4 o’clock Friday morning. A cell phone signal led them to the right area.
Clark was booked into jail for filing a false report.
Devin's aunt says Clark has forgotten his son before. She doesn't want the little boy, who's already been through so much, to be hurt again. "Just looking at my nephew, he's the spitting image of my sister," said Knight. "That makes the bond a little more, a little more tight because we lost her and that's really the only part of her we have left."
Devin's mother, 24 year old Vickie Knight, was found brutally stabbed to death inside what used to be a South Sheridan check cashing business in June of 2004. Police aren't sure if it was a robbery gone wrong, or the killer is someone she knew. Her killer still hasn't been caught.
"This person could be waving to your kids on their way to the bus stop," Knight said. She says detectives have hit a dead, and the family is desperate for someone to come forward with information.
In the meantime Knight’s worried about who will raise her sister's son, “Whether it's with us or somebody else, I want the best for him."
Devin Clark is now in DHS custody, it's not clear whether he'll be returned to his father.
Police said they couldn't comment on whether Odell Clark is a suspect in the death of his son's mother.
