FORT GIBSON LAKE, Okla. (AP) -- A body found near Fort Gibson Lake in northeastern Wagoner County is that of 40-year-old John Velasco of Nowata.

Authorities say Velasco had been missing for more than a week when the body was found by hunters in a wooded area Sunday.

Sheriff Johnny Cannon says the body was found Sunday in a wooded area near the lake in far northeastern Wagoner County.

Cannon says it appears the body had been there for several days and there are no indications of foul play but the state medical examiner is working to determine the exact cause of death.
