TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ A Northwest Airlines regional jet with 49 people aboard made an emergency landing at Tulsa International Airport after the pilot noticed a problem with a control surface on a wing, the airline said Monday.

Flight 5929 from Memphis, Tenn., landed safely at 9:44 p.m. Sunday. Passengers were switched to another airplane and arrived at their destination in Oklahoma City shortly before midnight.

There was a problem with the automatic controls for an aileron, but the wing tab could be operated manually and the Canadair regional jet was not in danger, said Philip Reed, vice president of marketing for Pinnacle Airlines Inc., which operated the flight for Northwest.

The malfunctioning jet was repaired at a Pinnacle maintenance facility in Tulsa and was back in service early Monday.

``The situation was quickly corrected,'' Reed said. ``This wasn't a big deal.''
