GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) _ Paul Smith rushed for two touchdowns and threw for another to lead Tulsa to a 31-10 win over East Carolina.

The Golden Hurricane continued its best start since 1982 and recorded second-best final tally of the season.

Smith finished 15-of-21 through the air for 124 yards with on interception. He also finished with 42 yards on nine rushes.

The Tulsa defense, leading Conference-USA with only 268 yards allowed per game, gave up 241 total yards to the Pirates.

Courtney Tennial rushed 22 times for 88 yards and a touchdown to lead Tulsa's ground attack.
