HOUSTON (AP) _ The number of rigs actively exploring for oil and natural gas is up nationwide but down in Oklahoma.
Houston-based Baker Hughes says the number of active rigs in the United States increased by four this week while the number in the state declined by eight.
Of the other major oil- and gas-producing states, Texas gained eight rigs and Louisiana three. Colorado and New Mexico each lost three, California two and Alaska and Wyoming one each.
Baker Hughes has tracked rig counts since 1944.
