OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahomans are helping raise awareness of their favorite causes and groups by placing specialty license tags on their vehicles.
From occupations like firefighters and deputy sheriffs to veterans of World War Two, Korea, Vietnam and Desert Storm, Oklahomans are showing their support by displaying specialty tags.
The state Tax Commission's specialty tags program has 189 tag designs available to driver's and collectors. A portion of the fee paid for many of the specialized tags is returned to the organizations, including Oklahoma colleges and universities.
Ther Tax Commission says about 105,000 of Oklahoma's estimated 2.8-million motorists bought specialty tags during the fiscal year that ended June 30th.
