NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- A host of state and federal officials gathered in Norman Friday to dedicate the new weather center at the University of Oklahoma.
The 244,000 square-foot facility on the southern edge of OU's campus will host a number of university and federal weather research and operations.
US Commerce Department. Deputy Secretary David Sampson says the weather center is the premier facility of its kind in the nation and will help improve the state's economy.
OU President David Boren says the new center will be an anchor for OU's new research hub on campus.
