A Tulsa man is in custody after an overnight standoff keeps Tulsa Police at bay for more than four hours. It happened near the intersection of Peoria and Jasper.
Police arrested 51-year-old Steve Steepage for assault and battery and pointing a deadly weapon. At about 11:30 PM Monday, Tulsa Police say Steepage's wife called 911 after she and her husband got into a fight. She told police that her husband assaulted her and pointed a shotgun at her.
Police say they arrived at the home and tried to get Steepage to come outside but he refused. Tulsa Police then set up a perimeter and kept contact with the man through telephone and PA. The standoff ended after 4 hours.
Tulsa Police Captain Walter Evans: "We waited four hours because we wanted this to be a safe resolution. We never try to escalate things if there's no need to do it."
Tulsa Police say they found a shotgun and a rifle after searching the home.
An investigation into the incident continues.
