OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A state lawmaker says veterans of the war on terror will need the state's help to deal with stress disorders when they return to civilian life.

State Representative Joe Dorman of Rush Springs says some soldiers will need the state's support when they try to reintegrate into society. Dorman says the problem of stress disorders needs to be addressed before the need increases beyond the state's ability to respond.

A 2002 study by the US Department of Veterans Affairs says about 8 percent of men and 20 percent of women develop post traumatic stress disorder after facing trauma/severe stress. About 30 percent develop a chronic form of the ailment.

If untreated, the disorder can create many problems in the daily lives of sufferers.
