OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Voters in three south-central Oklahoma counties soon will decide whether to remain dry or to allow liquor by the drink.

A measure that would allow McClain, Garvin and Murray counties to become wet will go before voters in November.

44 of Oklahoma's 77 counties now allow liquor by the drink.

McClain County has considered going wet once before, but was one of seven counties in 1985 to reject the idea. In that same election, 22 counties voted to lift the ban on liquor sales.

H.T. Scott, the assistant director of the state's Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement Commission, says six counties have gone wet during the past two years.
