OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Mixed news regarding America's oil refineries helped gasoline prices fall throughout Oklahoma over the weekend.

Oklahoma City motorists reported prices between $2.87 and $3.21 per gallon. AAA Oklahoma spokesman Chuck Mai said Oklahoma City area average was $2.99 on Labor Day, down about a nickel since Friday.

The average price in Tulsa was $3.04, down 14 cents over the weekend. Statewide, AAA reported an average price of $2.97, a decline of about four cents.

Mai credits the downturn to reports of refineries coming back online, improvements in crude oil stocks and the anticipated decline in gasoline demand after the weekend, which is seen as the end of the summer driving season.

Chevron Corporation Monday said damage from Hurricane Katrina to its Pascagoula, Mississippi, refinery wasn't catastrophic, but the company didn't provide restart estimates.
