SASAKWA, Okla. (AP) _ Boy Scouts of the Canadian Valley District are organizing a cleanup effort for old Camp Sasakwa.

The 500-acre camp is in southeast Hughes County, about five miles south of Spaulding and just north of the Canadian River.

District Chairman Jim Richardson says the group is calling on Boy Scouts, old and young, to help Friday through Sunday. The work will include clearing campsites, building picnic tables, digging latrines and re-establishing old trails.

Richardson said the cleanup is being done for the first Sasakwa reunion on October 7th through the 9th at the old camp.

The camp was established in the early 1920s, long before the Canadian Valley Council was absorbed into Oklahoma City-based Last Frontier Council in 1948.
