OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A new dress code at the University of Oklahoma's College of Pharmacy is drawing complaints from some students.

The dress code adopted two weeks ago calls for "business casual" and bans athletic shoes, shorts, T-shirts, tops that expose the midriff, spaghetti straps, tank tops, athletic pants and hats.

Some students say they weren't told of the new dress code until after they had bought clothes they now can't wear.

But assistant dean Mark Britton says alumni have complained the students aren't entering the work force with professional attire or behavior. And pharmacist Joe Harmison says students need to learn from the beginning that there are standards expected for professional people.

Britton says students may qualify for additional financial aid if they can't afford new clothes.
