OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma's Labor Department says the state recorded a 9 percent drop in workplace fatalities last year.

The agency says 91 job deaths were recorded in 2004. They included 44 transportation-related deaths. 32 of the deaths were tied to highway accidents, the same as a year ago.

Thirteen people died as result of contact with objects or equipment last year, down from 17 the previous year.

Assaults and violent acts claimed eleven lives on the job, compared with 16 in 2003.

12 people died in the mining category, includes oil and natural gas extraction. That's up from 9 deaths the previous year.

10 people died from exposure to harmful substances or environments, up from 5 deaths the year before.
