NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops and his wife, Carol, have been named in a lawsuit by a former nanny.

In papers filed Wednesday in Cleveland County District Court Janay Roberts says she tripped over a family pet, fell down a flight of stairs at the Stoops' home and suffered a miscarriage in September 2003.

Roberts is seeking more than $10,000 in actual damages and more than $10,000 in punitive damages.

In a statement, Stoops says he and his wife hope to find an acceptable resolution to the matter and are committed to paying for Roberts' legitimate medical expenses.

The 29-year-old says Stoops and his wife initially promised to pay her medical bills and referred her to a doctor.

She claims they reneged on the agreement and fired her after being told she would need surgery.
