NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- A computer worm that's affected about 125 companies worldwide is blamed for shutting down operations at an air conditioning plant in Norman.
York International sent home 650 employees yesterday after the Zotob worm affected about 500 company computers running Windows 2000.
York vice president Becky Payton says the problems first started Monday and by Tuesday the computers were continually crashing and rebooting. She says an information technology crew spent the night working to get rid of the worm and York plan reopened Wednesday.
The Zotob worm and several variations of it infected computers at companies such as CNN, The Associated Press, The New York Times and Caterpillar.
