SALINA, Okla. (AP) A 22-year-old man was killed when his car ran off a Mayes County road and struck a tree.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Nathan James Vernon Mace of Pryor was killed in yesterday's 2 PM crash five miles north of Salina.

Troopers say Mace's Ford Mustang was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed on a county road when it ran off the roadway and struck a tree in the driver's side door.

The patrol says Mace was pinned in the wreckage for a total of 22 minutes.

He was transported to a Tulsa hospital, where he died of massive injuries. Troopers say Mace wasn't wearing a seat belt.
