OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- State officials are confirming two separate investigations have been opened into reports of possible health insurance fraud at the University of Oklahoma's student health clinic.

A spokeswoman for the Oklahoma Insurance Department says an investigation was opened into the Goddard Health Center but that she couldn't discuss the nature of the complaint or investigation.

A spokeswoman for the Oklahoma State and Education Employees Group Insurance Board says an investigation also had been started by the FBI.

The FBI says it can't confirm or deny ongoing investigations.

OU spokeswoman Catherine Bishop says she's unaware of any open investigations and that they may have been the result of a disgruntled former employee.

Former Goddard physician Doctor Bruce Remy sued the university last year, claiming he was fired after uncovering possible health insurance fraud at the clinic.

Remy and his attorney say a settlement in the case was reached last week.

In its response to Remy's suit, school attorneys denied his allegations and claim Remy was fired for violating the terms of his contract.
