OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Construction on capital improvement projects at colleges and universities in the state is a step closer to beginning.
The state board overseeing a higher education bond package Friday chose a team to underwrite the $475-million in bonds to be sold to pay for the projects and a law firm to provide legal services.
State Treasurer Scott Meacham says the board selected a management team and says the start of construction on individual projects will depend on the status of planning by the various colleges and universities.
The bonds will pay for about 140 higher education projects in 36 communities, including classrooms, laboratories and research facilities.
The bonds are to be paid off with higher education's share of money raised from a statewide lottery that voters approved last year.
