TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ A team of two 25 year-olds from Oklahoma has won a cross-country vintage car race that ended in Tacoma this weekend.
Greg Cunningham and Stan Goeppinger of Ponca City, Oklahoma, drove their 1928 Ford more than four-thousand miles from Washington, DC, to Tacoma, to win the Great Race rally.
The rally race is about timing -- not speed. The racers try to match a perfect time set by organizers, without the use cell phones, odometers or other modern devices.
Cunningham and Goeppinger were off the perfect time by one minute and 41 seconds for the 14-day event. The next closest racer was 22 seconds behind. The race ended Saturday.
The winning pair were piloting a 1928 Model A Speedster.
