The Tulsa City Council has gone on record "against" the proposed toll bridge over the Arkansas River.
After two hours of discussion Thursday night, the council voted to oppose the bridge. Before the vote, they heard overwhelming opposition from the south Tulsa neighborhoods that would be affected by the bridge.
The citizens believe extra traffic would overwhelm the narrow south Tulsa roads and drain tax revenue from Tulsa to the suburbs.
The council opposition doesn't kill the project, but it is a setback to Tulsa's county government, which has endorsed it.
