As Oklahomans hit the road this summer, they are not in the mood for an increase in the gas tax to pay for road and bridge repair.

A new Oklahoma Poll by The News On 6 and the Tulsa World shows voters lining up overwhelmingly against the proposed tax. Almost 90% of the voters we polled say they plan to vote on September 13th when the gas tax is on the ballot, but only 25% say they are in favor of the tax. 64% say they will vote against it.

If passed, the tax on gasoline would increase no more than five cents a gallon to fund repairs to the state's deteriorating roads and bridges.

The Oklahoma Poll is a partnership of The News On 6 and the Tulsa World. 750 voters were surveyed during the last week of June. The margin of error is 3.5 percent.
