OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Statistics prepared by the Oklahoma Criminal Justice Resource Center say the number of prison inmates in the state will continue increasing, but at a slower rate than in the past ten years.

The report was presented Thursday to the state Sentencing Commission.

The report is based on past trends and takes into account new sentencing laws and alternatives to prison, such as drug court, community sentencing or probation. It says the prison population will increase from just under 24,000 this year to 25,382 inmates in ten years.
