The Tulsa Area United Way announced its fundraising goal for 2005 Tuesday.

The nearly $22-million goal is higher than last year, which was almost $21-million. The goal was set after nearly 300 volunteers spent more than 8,000 hours looking into the community's needs and researching the effectiveness of local programs.

United Way's 2005 campaign kicks off with the annual "Day of Caring" on September 9th.
