TULSA, Okla. (AP) The state's ten-point-nine percent increase in funding for higher education is drawing praise from college officials, but they say even more money is needed.
The Legislature allocated 889 million dollars to higher education this year and approved a plan for colleges to issue 475 million dollars in bonds to pay for construction projects.
Still, higher education isn't getting as much money as it did in 2001 before statewide budget cuts.
Vice Chancellor Maryanne Meletz with the State Regents for Higher Education says the University of Oklahoma is getting just more than 76 percent of the money it needs and Oklahoma State University will get just more than 86 percent.
