TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ An October trial is scheduled for a man accused of beating a Tulsa bar owner to death with a pipe.

A judge has ordered 39-year-old Terry Badgwell to stand trial October 3rd on charges of first-degree murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Badgwell is accused of beating Shawn Howard and Josh Martin during an early morning confrontation last June. Howard died of injuries sustained in the incident.

Tulsa County District Attorney Tim Harris initially decided that Badgwell was acting in self-defense after Martin struck him with brass knuckles and declined to file charges.

Howard's friends and family gathered support to convene a grand jury to investigate the case, and grand jurors indicted Badgwell in December.

Bail for Badgwell has been set at $150,000.
