NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ The funeral for a 7-year-old Norman girl who died after being found underwater at Lake Thunderbird is set for Saturday.

Victoria Lynne Schat died Wednesday afternoon at Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Relatives say the child, members of her family and friends went to the lake on May 24th.

As they were leaving, Victoria and other children were led up a path to a picnic table as the adults loaded the vehicle, but for some reason, she returned to the water.

After she was found unconscious in shallow water, her father and a family friend administered CPR until an ambulance arrived.

The child was taken to Norman Regional Hospital and then transferred to Children's Hospital, where she lay in a coma for eight days and never regained consciousness.

A fund has been established at First Bank and Trust in Norman to help pay medical and funeral expenses.
