BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) _ A Washington County judge has sentenced a Bartlesville man to two consecutive 20-year prison terms for assaulting his wife and mother on New Year's Day.
District Judge Janice Dreiling concurred with the recommendation of a jury that convicted Bradley Scruggins of assault and battery and violating a protective order.
The 35 year-old was accused of beating the two women with an 18-inch long copper cable wrapped in electrical tape. Authorities say he then fled with his three-year-old son, Cage, prompting an Amber Alert.
Scruggins and his son were found with Scruggins' father on US Highway 69 near Wagoner three days later. The boy wasn't hurt.
During Thursday's sentencing hearing, Dreiling recalled dealing with Bradley Scruggins as a juvenile and said she compiled a half-foot high stack of his prior offenses.
